Bespoke means the curved rail is designed custom made for your staircase. If you need a curved stairlift then the only option is to have a custom made rail each rail has been built to fit your staircase
If your staircase is complex in design then there will be more curved rails to be formed increasing the cost of your curved stairlift. Additional options such as powered hinge rails to allow access between doors and exits in your home will also increase the price of your stairlift
Curved stairlifts are DC! Battery powered, the batteries are normally located inside the stairlift carriage/chair. The batteries are charged via top and bottom charging strips located on the curved rail. When the stairlift is parked at the top or bottom the stairlift batteries are automatically recharged
The main drive system for curved stairlifts is the "Rack & Pinion method! Hardened steel teeth (Rack) are welded to the tubular curved rail. The stairlift gearbox is coupled to a hardened steel pinion "cog" The pinion sits in mesh with the steel rack and when the motor is driven the teeth of the pinion drive the unit up or down
You should never try and install a second hand curved stairlift yourself! Due to the bespoke design they should only be produced and installed by curved rail specialists. If you want to reduce the costs of buying a curved stairlift then you should try and find a reputable stairlift supplier that deals in reconditioned stair lifts
Due to bespoke design, curved stairlifts prices are extremely high! New curved stairlifts have a starting price range 3000-6000. Buying reconditioned or recycled stairlifts should reduce the costs by half at least. Shop around and do plenty of research. Get as many prices and quotes as you can. compare prices of new and used stairlifts. Due to the large expense of the item you need to get it right first time. Try and make it a family decision. and don't sign on the day no matter how good the deal sounds
