Learning A Law A Day Should Keep The Lawyer Away

A law doesn't just encompass human beings and their foolishness. It also covers their belongings and their property. Most humans have some type of insurance, whether it be third-party, to cover the person in a car accident, on a lonely back-pack, if one is going lightly-clad to explore the world, against illness contracted on that exploration, or other insurances.

There are laws that have existed for centuries, and their origins are lost in the mists of time. Some laws are severely frowned on when so-called civilized countries lay eyes on them, but, for the country involved, they have been working perfectly for their culture for maybe centuries. If eating one's neighbour because the tribal law says one can, then that is their law, and outsider's opinions really do not matter. Most other peoples do not see it in such black-and-white terms.

Many laws, although long-serving, have now been modified to suit the modern world, but some still exist that are as they were first made. The mind sometimes boggles at what exactly went on, to cause them to be made. Now spitting on the footpath is illegal in most places, but before ten o'clock in the morning specifically? Does this mean one can spit to one's heart's content after ten o'clock? And why the time-frame? It can be fascinating to discover why some rules and regulations came into being, or if there is any reason they should still exist.

Justice systems cover everyone's day-to-day life. When one walks out of one's house, the legal system kicks in. No-one else has any right, unless permitted, to enter that house, until the owner returns. No damage must be done to it, or the insurance regulations kick in. Break and enter that house, and, if you are caught, a world of grief awaits one.

There is a law system to govern one's everyday life, although many are not aware there are so many. For instance, walking down a footpath and breaking off a flower which is sticking through the fence is technically a regulation broken, although it is one not often enacted. The owner of the flower is technically entitled to damages and the price of the flower to be paid to them.

One's health can be a bone of contention too. If one fails to see that the footpath is uneven, and falls on it, then there are grounds for compensation for the fall, and attention to be paid, so it does not happen again. If a company does not keep its workers safe, from outside factors, and themselves, if an employee's health is disrupted, and they suffer severe ongoing disabilities, they are entitled to help with medical bills from the company. Many legal ramifications can stem from a small mishap.

Many people break rules unknowingly every day. But, while to some people, those laws don't apply to them, to others caught doing the same thing, and not knowing what the rule is, can be very painful, both in pocket, and body. Some regulations are there to protect people from themselves, and it is wise to be up-to-date with them.

Somebody who is drunk and riding an exotic animal down a main street is certainly guaranteed to raise some eyebrows, especially if one falls off. But, if the animal is endangered, or rare, there can be many laws broken. Riding or driving anything while drunk is usually a large "no-no", unless it is for a circus promotion, or to advertise something, and all the permits and paperwork is done, although the drunk part is still very much frowned on. A simple bicycle ride can turn into a nightmare in the same instance.

It is worth-while to spend some-time on the Internet or the library to check out laws that are relevant, and find where they came from. Not all laws are cut-and-dried. They can have straight-forward repercussions, or they can be very convuluted. Not all laws are also dry as dust and boring. Some obscure laws can be down-right outrageous, but then many of them have never been acted out.
